Pendulum Slip Testing & Slip Risk Assessment

Using an established regulator-preferred test, calibrated equipment, and experienced operators, we can measure precisely how slippery a floor is.
When considering all factors affecting slip resistance, we can determine whether a floor is "safe" or "slippery", providing clear evidence of compliance, or a sound case for improvement.
Whether reacting to an accident or proactively managing risk, understanding how slippery the floor is remains an essential component of any plan to manage risk in a practical cost-effective manner.

Results You Can Trust

In an unregulated industry it can be difficult to know who to trust.  Accreditation doesn't guarantee excellence and some (including ourselves) stand to benefit from a particular result through anti-slip works.  So why trust us?  Because we've built our reputation on long-term integrity, and our assessments have been tested in court.

UKAS Calibrated Equipment

We only use the Pendulum and certified standard materials.  All certificates are referenced in reports and available on request.  Verification is conducted before testing, photographed and reported.

Compliance with Standards

We operate to both BS EN 16165:2021 Annex C and the UK Slip Resistance Group Guidelines Issue 6, the HSE-preferred approach.  (We sit on the standards body for the former and contributed to the latter).

Operator Competency

The Pendulum test is only as good as the person conducting it.  We've taken part in many competency schemes over the years, always producing acceptable results in blind testing.

Court Tested Results

Our Director has given evidence in numerous personal injury cases and in the High Court.  We know our reports might be relied on as evidence in court and approach each one of our assessments accordingly.

Flexible Nationwide Services

Our on-site services are competitive from Inverness to Plymouth, but did you know we can also test flooring samples sent in to us?
On-Site Slip Risk Assessment

We attend site for a day or half-day, conduct testing to industry best practice, assess factors affecting slip risk, conduct cleaning trials where appropriate, and produce a full report detailing findings and recommendations before leaving.  After-sales support is available to answer any queries that you may have about results, findings, recommendations or remedial works.

In-House Slip Testing of Samples

If you want to know if a surface meets the slip resistance specification for a given project, this service is perfect for you.  Provide us with a flooring sample and we will quickly and inexpensively certify it with a BS EN 16165 Annex C (Pendulum) test result.  Ideal for flooring manufacturers, distributors and suppliers to ensure products are safe before marketing them.

Anti-Slip Solutions

If you have a floor in need of improvement we can make it safe.  We conduct testing both before and after improvement works to demonstrate works were necessary (or avoid unnecessary works!) and to certify the improved surface.  Utilising slip data we can quantify the effects of cleaning or treatment and provide solid evidence of duty of care and compliance with H&S regulations.

Experienced in a wide range of environments

It's rare you'll find a scenario we haven't worked in; we've helped reduce slipping accidents in retail, wet leisure, hospitality, manufacturing, sports, food production, education, rail and more.  We've tested supercar factories, common household brands, at major sporting venues, and as far afield as the US and Turkey.
