What are we?

Cleaners?  Testers?  Flooring contractors?  Health & Safety consultants?
The reality is our mission makes us hard to pigeon-hole.  Simply, we want to stop slips.  We can't do this alone of course, so we work with those responsible for the manufacturing, testing, management and legal liability of floors to help them (you?) understand how and why slip accidents happen.  When you understand what makes a surface slippery you can take practical cost-effective steps to reduce slip risk, preventing unnecessary accidents and associated losses.
So yes, we are cleaners, but not very good ones as we're only interested in the floor.
Testers?  Absolutely, but we have only ever done one test, the HSE/UKSRG recommended test for slip resistance.
Flooring contractors?  Not at all, there is almost always a better way to solve a slipping issue than replacing the floor.
H&S consultants?  If we were we'd spend less time messing about on dirty floors.  We'd also be poor generalists, we really are only interested in slips.
We are, in short, a consultancy that uses testing and risk assessment to identify slip hazards, mitigating them with advice, cleaning and/or treatment.  If we can help you, then please let us know.

Meet "The Slip Guru"

Whilst few have been silly enough to devote their entire careers to slip risk assessment, Slip Guru Ltd is born of one such man's passion (or folly?).  Ben has spent the last 18 years testing and assessing surfaces, and started Slip Guru Ltd in order to make a difference by tackling the issues this testing identified.  Happiest when able to provide science-driven advice to those with the power to make real change, he doesn't mind that doing so often means working on dirty floors with heavy, labour-intensive equipment.  In fact, the combination of experience testing thousands of filthy floors (and at least ten clean ones), coupled with time spent in comfortable conference rooms discussing academic technicalities of the testing, is part of what makes this guru a valuable resource for many.

Small Business, Big Ideas

We are a small team based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.  Our small nature means we are fast and flexible, and of course keen to win your business.  Our central location helps ensure we can offer a competitive service nationwide.
We are not accredited for testing, and don't plan to be.  This is due in part to the cost of such accreditation (a cost customers would ultimately suffer), and in part to the fact that accreditation isn't the guarantee of proper testing that it is often understood to be.
That doesn't mean we don't take quality seriously though, whilst we are kept honest by presenting our reports to the scrutiny of the courtroom regularly, we also conduct work for and with larger accredited labs.  If you're concerned about the quality of our work, we'd invite you to attend site with us, see for yourself, and ask the difficult questions.  We're confident you'll be impressed.
We know working with smaller businesses can sometimes present a headache in terms of paperwork, so we've made sure we have all the relevant corporate, environmental and health and safety policies in place.  Copies of insurances are available on request.  We offer a discount for pre-payment, and can even take card payment on site, but flexible credit payment terms are no problem for us.

That's us, how about you?

Give us a call today to discuss your slip-related issue.  We'd like nothing more than to work with you to reduce slip risk.
